Does this work with any EPUB?
It works with image-based EPUBs — comics, manga and scanned books, where each page is a full-page image. A text novel produces a CBZ containing only its cover and any illustrations, because there are no page images to extract.
Where do the images come from?
The EPUB container is unzipped and every embedded image is collected, then sorted into reading order and repacked as a CBZ. The XHTML, CSS and navigation files are discarded, since a comic archive has no use for them.
Will page order be right?
In most cases, yes — images are sorted by natural filename order, which matches reading order in the overwhelming majority of comic EPUBs. If a publisher used unusual filenames, you can correct the order afterwards in the CBZ editor.
Can you convert a DRM-protected EPUB from a store?
No. Files with Adobe DRM or store-specific protection cannot be opened at all. Only DRM-free EPUBs can be converted.
Are the images re-encoded?
No. Images are copied out of the EPUB and into the CBZ exactly as they were stored, so there is no generational quality loss.
