How can a browser open a CBR file?
A WebAssembly build of unrar runs inside the page and unpacks the RAR archive locally. It is the same decompression a desktop application would do, executed in the browser instead — no upload, no plugin.
Why does opening a CBR take longer than a CBZ?
RAR decompression is more computationally demanding than ZIP, and it runs on your own CPU. Large archives take noticeably longer to open, especially on mobile.
What are the reading controls?
Arrow keys turn pages, F toggles fullscreen, + and − zoom, and 0 resets zoom. Zoomed pages can be dragged to pan, and touch gestures do the same on mobile.
Can it open password-protected CBR files?
No. Encrypted RAR archives cannot be decompressed without the password, and there is no way to supply one here.
Should I convert my CBRs to CBZ instead?
If you read them often, yes. CBZ opens faster, is supported by more software, and the conversion is lossless — the pages inside are identical.
