About CBZ to EPUB Conversion

CBZ files are ZIP-based comic archives that are easier to process than CBR files. Our converter extracts comic pages from your CBZ archive and creates professional EPUB e-books with proper formatting, navigation, and metadata optimized for e-readers.

Since CBZ uses standard ZIP compression, the conversion process is fast and efficient while producing high-quality EPUB files with complete table of contents and e-reader optimization.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is anything lost converting CBZ to EPUB?

The page images themselves are copied across untouched. What does not survive is any ComicInfo.xml metadata in the CBZ — series, volume, writer and artist fields are not mapped into EPUB metadata.

Why is the EPUB roughly the same size as the CBZ?

Both are ZIP containers holding the same JPEG or PNG images. EPUB adds a small amount of XHTML and XML overhead per page, so the total is usually within a few percent of the original.

Which apps open the result?

Anything that reads EPUB: Apple Books, Google Play Books, Kobo, Calibre, Thorium, Moon+ Reader and most library apps. This is the main advantage over CBZ, which needs a dedicated comic reader.

Do double-page spreads stay intact?

Yes. Each image becomes one EPUB page regardless of its aspect ratio, so a wide spread stays a single wide image rather than being cut in half.

Can I convert back to CBZ later?

Yes — the EPUB to CBZ converter extracts the images back out into a CBZ archive. Since neither direction re-encodes the images, a round trip does not degrade them.
