Will the PDF look as sharp as the original CBZ?
For most pages, yes. Images under 2MB are embedded into the PDF exactly as they are, with no re-encoding. Pages larger than 2MB are re-encoded as JPEG at 70% quality to keep the PDF from exhausting your browser's memory — visually near-identical, but it is a lossy step on those specific pages.
Why is the PDF so much bigger than the CBZ?
A PDF wraps each image in its own page object along with structural overhead, and it cannot deflate the already-compressed image data any further. A 10–20% increase over the source CBZ is normal.
Does each comic page become one PDF page?
Yes. Every image in the archive becomes exactly one PDF page, sized to that image's aspect ratio, so double-page spreads stay as single wide pages rather than being split.
Why should I convert to PDF instead of just reading the CBZ?
PDF is worth it when you need to open a comic somewhere a dedicated reader is not available — a work laptop, a printer, a document management system, or an e-reader that only handles PDF. For everyday reading, a native CBZ reader gives better performance and page navigation.
Is there a page limit?
There is no fixed page limit, but the whole PDF is assembled in your browser's memory. Very long books — several hundred high-resolution pages — can exhaust available memory on phones and older machines. If a conversion fails, splitting the comic into volumes reliably fixes it.
